Company Magazine Blog Event: A little inspired summary.

Okay, so this isn’t within my normal makeup&money remit but WHATEVER, it’s my blog, i’ll blog about what I waaaaant.  (just kidding, don’t abandon me please)

I’m writing this blog-post fueled with inspiration having just attended the blogging forum held by Company Magazine this evening. I say fueled with inspiration, I also mean fueled with champagne!! Apologies for exclamation mark overload and CAPS LOCK abuse in advance….

So what actually happened tonight? Fortunately what goes on at Company Magazine Blog Forum definitely does NOT stay at Company Magazine Blog Forum, these girls are the most advanced social networkers I have ever met! We would make great spies.

Like what you might expect from a glamourous magazine event, we started the event with bubbly. All the best nights start with bubbly.

I got to meet some great people- not just fashion & beauty bloggers but also an accessories designer, a trend forecaster and a lingerie designer! (if you guys are reading – YO!)
It was so refreshing to meet fellow newbies like myself who are taking our baby steps into the blogging world. Do your bit for blog salvation – take some time today to follow a new blog!

And then, the high-rollers came out to play..

Company Magazine had bagsed the cream of the blog crop – a stellar cast starring:

Speaking of Sandra at 5inchandup – we were both taking photos of the Company sign and I didn’t even REALISE it was her next to me as I was focusing on ‘the shot’.  Whilst uploading to Twitter, I was absentmindedly asking the standard ‘we’re british, lets be polite even though we’re very busy tweeting’ questions like “soo do you blog, whats your blog about”. As soon as she said “there’s a sort of focus on shoes, it’s called..” I looked at her and thought – OMG, it’s SANDRA FROM 5inchandup!

I then proceeded to get absolutely star struck and continued to ask further moronic questions including, my favourite, “so did you, like er, get invited by Company to be here?”

Smart. Nice one Dubs.

She was so lovely though – and she is st-unning. Like a real-life glam Rapunzel in killer heels. And totally amenable to photos with moronic fangirls like me.

Me and my pal Sandra from 5inchandup. Best pals obvs.

The main event

There was then the panel, in which the super-six answered questions from both the Company Ed. Victoria White and then the crowd. Here’s some of my favourite lessons (mostly several answers combined into one important lesson):

1. Take a step back and plan your blog, what’s the message you want to put out there- is it what you’re passionate about?

2. Don’t be intimidated or feel sad about other blogs with lots of followers – there will always be a blog bigger than you

3. The blogworld is changing – get onboard with several different networking platforms so your blog is alive on several levels.

4. Find your niche, hone in and develop it. Dont think you have to do absolutely everything within your industry.

5. Think how honest you want to be in your blog – if you have to say anything negative, try say it in a constructive way. No one likes a meanie.

Then after the panel, there was more bubbles – oh – and we got a goody bag which had y’know.. a couple of bits of EVERYTHING A NEW BEAUTY BLOGGER COULD EVER WANT.

I go to bed a happy blogger.

Lots of blog ideas coming up. Lots of new friends to follow. Oh, and a 9AM call with Hong Kong tomorrow at work. Cripes, I need to get some ZZZ’s.

Sounds like an interesting event. Do you know if they will be doing anymore – anytime soon. I think blogging events are a great way to learn about the craft of blogging, as well as networking. Some people don't realise the sheer time and effort it takes to keep the thing running!I would deff be up for attending more of these.LiLi XxLetsGetLippy.comP.S – your hair looks stunning Xx
