I love wintery weather, especially going for walks (short ones) in the crisp, fresh air. But the cold wreaks absolute havoc on my skin – biting, harsh wind outside and then cosy but dehydrating central heating. Boo.
The results? Dull skin, partial to a bit of dryness, in need of protection and moisture. S.O.S- SAVE OUR SKINS!
Moisturisers are VITAL for keeping your skin hydrated. Its in the name, duhh.
To skip moisturiser is a beauty sin – it helps seal water within the layers of the epidermis (posh word for ‘skin’ that I learnt in Year 10 Biology) and when your skin is hydrated, it is plump! It is radiant! It is HAPPY.
But moisturiser is not just for dry skin – even oily skin needs a moisturiser.
Honestly! Skin can have excess oil but still be dehydrated – an oil-free moisturiser is best in this case. (Trust me, a couple of years ago I had more volcanoes on my face than the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and now, after a good oil-free skincare routine, I am freeee!)
But what do I use now?
Well since you ask…
I’ve been using the Elemis FreshSkin Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser recently and it. is .lush. It feels really luxurious and the scent is diviiiiiine. It’s got lots of natural ingredients like chamomile & sweet almond oil, and it’s enriched with natural seaweed extract.. ooOOooh!
The texture is light and fluid – perfect for normal/combi/oily girls like me who don’t need a heavy duty moisturiser every day.
And there’s no SPF in it, so you can use it both day and night.
There is no other word to describe how it smells other than LOVELY. The lavender scent is perfect for your night-time routine.
Face Value Tip: I spend a couple of minutes each night combining it with a facial massage and inhaling deeply before bed. See ya later stress!
Buff your troubles away
I’ve been combining this with the Elemis Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash. Used a couple of times a week, an exfoliator like this will help refine your skin texture by buffing away dead skin cells to reveal the new, radiant, HAPPY SKIN underneath.
Face Value Tip:
Exfoliating regularly encourages cell renewal so if you’re worried about ageing or prone to a couple spots here and there, get exfoliating and you’ll see the difference within weeks!
The Elemis Skin Glow Exfoliator is quite coarse, you can see the natural scrubbers in it from here!
The good thing is you really feel like you’re getting rid of the baddies! But for me, it was a bit too much scrub for daily use, so I use it once or twice a week, on top of my normal skincare routine.
The grains are actually finely milled cherry pits – doesn’t that sound delicious? I love the natural philosophy that Elemis follows and the quality of ingredients really shows.
Each product is formulated using raw, natural ingredients that have been specially selected for their purpose – gone Organic with your diet, why not with your skin?
It’s like a mini-spa in your the comfort of your own bathroom and you can buy a taster of the whole range here for less than £20!
Given that I’ve just spent £40 on one product from another brand, I think discovery kits like these are an absolute bargain and a great way to sample a bit of everything before you go full-size…
Has anyone else tried the Freshskin range yet? What are your favourite products?
Is anyone going organic with their skincare choices? Do natural products have a visible difference?
