“I just popped into Boots” and other stories

There’s a vice in everyone. We all know our one weakness which we are almost powerless to resist. And for me – it’s the silent siren call of Boots.

My one stop shop for toiletries, makeup, perfume, medicines and even last-minute tights – I can’t leave the store without buying more than I planned for.

And today was no different – I popped in to buy an eyebrow pencil.

And i came out with this!!

First – the eyebrow pencil – the one I went in for! Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil.

For days when you’re rocking a power brow, this pencil is great for accurate and precise brow sketching. It’s quite a bit harder than other pencils I’ve used, which I love – why use a smudgy pencil when you can use powder? I use this for definition and then I use powder to fill in the gaps.

I’ve got it in a wealth of colours but as my hair colour changed from red through to black, my brow colour should really be changing with it! Your brows should ideally be a shade lighter than your hair, I’ve been walking around with black hair and orange brows for….. TOO LONG.  Oh lord.

2.  L’Oreal Elvive Smooth & Polish Masque

I’m not gonna lie, anytime I see a L’Oreal hair advert – I want to be worth it too – and this is the latest product on the TV to have suckered me into a purchase.

It’s got a load of keratin which is basically the stuff your hair’s made out of so I imagine it does a good job resurfacing damaged hair. This baby’s gonna be best friends with my split ends by the end of next week!

I’m all about instant gratification – I wanna tell you as much as I can so I just gave it a quick whiff now and it smells DELISH.

Lee Stafford BIG FAT teXturised HAIRr SUPer SPraY – MaTT styLee

No – I’m not being “cool” or “street” – as much as it pains me to type that out – this is really how it’s spelt..

“Is it a hairspray? Is it a wax spray? Sea Salt Spray? It’s a SUPER SPRAY” – I’ll be the judge of that Lee Stafford. But to be fair, I love their Blow Dry Your Hair Faster Spray – so i’ve got my fingers crossed it also does what it says on the tin. Or bottle. You know what I is sayin man.

Cheeky unnecessary purchase alert! Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover – because I’m lazy and this just sounds AMAZING for my crusty fingers. (Wow, I sound so attractive right now.)

Let’s move on.

Two of my absolute beauty staples.

Sally Hansen Insta Dri Anti Chip Top Coat – this quick try top coat is LUSH LUSH LUSH. It dries within 30 seconds, even on damp nails – and gives that lovely squishy gel feeling that you get with Shellac or UV Gel Nails. Serious OOH moments whenever I try it out on friends, honest. You need to try this!

Rimmel Volume Flash The Max Bold Curves Mascara. Right – LONGEST NAME EVER for a mascara, but it’s also the longest surviving mascara which I have bought again and again and again. The curved brush makes a spoon look like a knife in comparison and is great for pushing lashes up to get an eyelash curler effect, “sans le clamp“.

Oh – and there’s a nice little Avene Cleanance K Cream-Gel free sample there too. HIYA.

Have you tried any of these? What are your beauty staples? What do you think of a curved mascara brush?

And Is tYPINg like THis really cool????

Some other news

So there’s a beauty bloggers meet up happening in London tomorrow. For those of you have been in a beauty blogging hole, details can be found at Tattoed Tea Lady’s blog

In short, it’s 3:30 – 4:30 at Selfridges, followed by a general wander along Oxford Street to Jerusalem bar.

Joining after work? We aim to be at Jerusalem bar by 6 for anyone who’s coming straight out of the grind!

I’ve been reading a lot of comments on Twitter from people who don’t want to come because they’re either too nervous, worried they don’t know anyone or feel like they’re not established enough to come.

First and foremost – meetups like this are for anyone and everyone!

Also – I’ll say it right now – I don’t know ANYONE – I am a massive bblogger loner….  So let’s go and know no one together? 🙂

Come along. I made cards and I would love to give one to you. (whey, card schlaaag)

It’s my birthday next week and I’ve got dollars to burn – let’s go have some fun!

  1. Oh the Lee Stafford spray sounds like something I'd really like to try out, I love having messy/ texturised hair! Would love to hear how you get on with it xChloe – Very Lovely Stuff

  2. I am EXACTLY the same in Boots, and unfortunately there's one 3 minutes from my office. I'm sure the women on the tills have started to recognise me "look, there's that weirdo that spends about £60 a week in here"…Like the look (but not the spelling) of the Lee Stafford spray.

  3. I have this problem with boots too.. the 3 for 2 deal is killing me at the moment! going to try this sally hansen – my nail varnish chips within about 5 minutes! xxhttp://www.sophie-denise.com

  4. When I go into boots I put the blinkers on and do not look at anything thats not on my list or I'll literally come out with everything! That top coat sounds really good, I hate having to wait for nails to dry! xxtaupeandpearl.blogspot.com

    1. Excellent method Kirsty, however that requires some self control, of which I have….. ZERO. Haha x
