So in the middle of a heatwave, what do you wear to work? My office isn’t really the place for string tops or maxi dresses but the thought of wearing trousers or a tailored dress brings me out in a sweat just thinking about it.
A big sticky hot mess of a sweat.
In the heat, long sleeve shirts feel like little sauna straight jackets and anything with a lining is immediately stuck to your back or around your legs. Pencil skirts become a Thai jail for your thighs and don’t get me started on anything silk (its all ruined!)
So what have I been wearing?
I picked up this lovely dress from Uniqlo the other week. It’s part of the Uniqlo x Celia Birtwell collection and mixes that cool Japanese design with Celia’s fab prints.
It’s lightweight and floaty enough to keep you cool but the colour, sleeve length and sharp neckline keep it just about smart enough for the office.
As you can see, no watch – I don’t know if it’s my wrist or my watch but my metal watch feels like it’s trying to strangle my arm!
Definitely on the hunt for a light fabric/leather strap watch instead. (As much as I adore my Marc Jacobs, i just can’t be arsed to go get it resized ha)
Check out the neckline. I love a collarless shirt or jacket!
I like to roll up the sleeves for a bit of contrasting colour – but mainly to stop my stupid child-size wrists from looking swamped.
For shoes, I paired it with some nude pink ballerina flats from Office.
I’ve had these since Xmas, again I think I got them on sale – they were £15.
The pearl embellishments on the bows add a classy touch to the outfit but the Uniqlo dress could easily be dressed down with a pair of metallic sandals or slim sneakers.
I’m so glad I popped into Uniqlo! Such a good little find this dress – I was cool and breezy all day. This 3/4 sleeve dress was originally 29.90 but I got it for 7.90 in the sale! *does a little bargain dance*
What have you been wearing in this heatwave? And what have you been avoiding?
Do you resize your watches for summer?
