Christmas Morning FOTD – My “I just woke up like this” makeup look

So it’s Christmas morning and you want to race downstairs to crack open the Bucks Fizz, start ripping open presents and hug everyone/everything.

But wait. If it’s anything like my household, there’s going to be cameras and Instagramming and all sorts of need-to-capture-this-moment-forever stuff. And with any sort of photo, your face needs to be prepared!

But you haven’t got all morning have you? It’s CHRISTMAS after all. But you need to save some face before you head into the fray – what should you do?

The answer is simple – it’s all about the basics. For that dahling-I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-like-this look you need these three things:

1) Definition of your eyes and brows

2) Clear skin

3) Glowing cheeks

And you can do this in ten minutes! How? Here’s the detail…

1) Define your features

To look awake, a quick sweep of powder through the brows and a slick of liner on the top lid will add definition to tired features. Tired features which will now ‘pop’ beautifully in all Xmas morning photos. Ker-ching.

I used the Oriflame Beauty Eyebrow Kit and the Seventeen Make Your Mark eyeliner (click the links for my individual reviews!) If you’ve got time, a quick coat of mascara didn’t hurt anyone..

2) Get Glowing Skin

Fortunately, the stresses and excesses of Christmas have yet to take it out on my skin, so I quickly applied some CC cream.

I used the Seventeen CC cream as it gives the glow-factor and coverage without being too dewy or greasy.

It’s IDEAL for oily or combination skin as keeps skin matte whilst still looking radiant. It’s the best CC cream I’ve used so far!

Finally – add some colour to your wintery cheeks.

3) Get glowing cheeks

The easiest way to get naturally glowing cheeks is to use a cream blush. Here I’ve quickly brushed on some of the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush which I bought in New York.

This Dream Bouncy blush is quite subtle, so you can be quite careless and haphazard* with it when you’re in a rush – exactly my mood on Christmas morning!!  (*obvs with caveats, don’t be smearing it on your nose or anything)

Do you hate the texture of cream blushes? Don’t worry if you can’t hack it – I used to hate them too and there are some great powder alternatives for a similar effect such as the Boots Instant Radiance Blush Palette.

And voila! My ten minute face which I will be wearing this morning – tartan Christmas pyjamas and all!

Have a very merry Christmas morning everyone! Now here’s a picture of my big face.  BIG LOVE.
