Romantic Ballet: My Valentines Inspired Look

I know I normally only do workwear but here’s a little Valentines special for you. Love is in the (really chilly) air and I’m feeling girly! And nothing says Valentines romance more than flowers, pastel colours and a whole lotta floaty material.

What will I be wearing this weekend? (Yes, the weekend – let’s face it, no one reeeally wants to do the real thing on the Friday. I’ll be working until 6 and then home by 7 – the restaurants will be packed and overpriced and. at the risk of becoming Valentines Grumpus, I’ll stop digressing now)

In an ideal world where the weather doesn’t leave me looking like a sodden cat everytime I step out of the house, I would wear this.

Voilaaaaa. I call this my romantic ballerina look…. Hints of a joyful spring ahead, plus a dash of carefree playfulness with the oversized flowers, this outfit ticks all the boxes for a perfect Valentines outfit. Girly, flirty and romantic but elegant at the same time.

Where’s it from?

The wonderful H&M no less – I’m afraid it’s no longer in the shops, but this design is quite common at H&M minus the flower. This lovely shade of powder-blue is ideal for a feminine look without wearing the standard pink.

DIY Decoration: The pink flower is something I picked up in the haberdashery section in John Lewis last year – just attach it to a kirbygrip and you’ve got a decorative hairpiece. Or stick a safety pin in it and you’ve got a beautiful brooch.

If you want to wear anything less….

Don’t forget a lovely perfume which is fit for the occasion. I love a special occasion perfume! You know, that one you only wear on birthdays or fancy nights out?

This weekend I’ll be wearing Carven Le Parfum. The french fashion house has been going from strength to strength, opening the first UK boutique late last year. Le Parfum reflects Carven’s timeless elegance – it smells floral and fresh, like cut white flowers and a touch of citrus– my kind of fragrance!!

Simple, fresh and charming, Carven Le Parfum was originally an exclusive to Harrods but is available nationwide at Selfridges, Debenhams, House Of Fraser and online. Carven Le Parfum also has a lovely accompanying body milk which dries quickly and leaves skin soft and smelling beautiful.

The Makeup

The face is simple, pared back but with hints at pink and shimmer on the eyes and lips. Think natural, but enhanced.

Definition with mascara is a must for lovely fluttery lashes to make big wide eyes at the one you love…. (Okay you got me, I was just checking myself out in the mirror)  Today I’ve used Benefit They’re Real mascara – you can see my review comparing it to Chanel here.

Sending big soppy valentines love and hugs to all my readers and followers!

Have you got any Valentines plans? Or are you a Valentines grumpus too?
