Did you see last week when I went to the Burt’s Bees Natural Lip Colour launch? I was really impressed with the event and now that I’ve had time to try out all the products….. I’m even more impressed!
Like I said last time, I’ve started to think more about the ingredients in my lipgloss – particularly as we swallow 2 kilos of the stuff in our lifetime!!
So the first thing I used to associated with “natural colour cosmetics” was wishy-washy colours, weird rose-tasting formulas and, quite frankly, just lacking that overall OOMPH that my favourite chemical-loaded cosmetics have.
Well – and I very rarely say this – I was wrong. Feast your eyes on these babies!
Lacking in OOMPH? Wishy-washy colours? First of all, they look great. This is a stunning picture, and truly representative of the stunning lipglosses contained within them.
Let’s take a closer look!
The new Burt’s Bees Lip Glosses are vibrant, shiny and 100% natural. The colour payoff is really great – a hefty dose of colour without being too intense. And the colour range is SERIOUSLY good. I’ve picked my favourites of the 12 here but the shades in the range have some very subtle differences which cover every warm/cool tone you need.
They are a great alternative to lipstick, a great introduction to colour for lipstick-newbies and oh – they don’t taste of Rose (yesssss!) They’re more of a Vanilla type taste, but not synthetic at all.
Next up, introducing some new shades to the awesome Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer range. The illegitimate child of a lipgloss, a lip balm and a lipstick, I’d never tried a Lip Shimmer before, but now they are my absolute FAVOURITE lip product!
Moisturising with a pearlescent shine that makes your lips look bigger, these Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers have a very similar colour range to the Lip Glosses. I’m talking nude neutrals right through to the deepest, darkest, berry reds.
But ENOUGH TALKING already. Pictures speak a thousand words sometimes – here are some up-close and personal swatches.
The colour range is so versatile, there is literally something there for every occasion! My most-used of them all is FIG – a lovely brown-red which looks quite natural with one coat, but provides a timeless, elegant look when slaaaaathered on.
The best thing about these Lip Shimmers is that you can really layer them up for a serious dose of moisture and colour.
Watch out though – the darkest colours are intense, so hold off on the slathering – see PLUM for my meaning – treat it like you would a lipstick!
This great collection of new colours and new products will be launching in May.
The Burt’s Bees Lipglosses are going to launch exclusively at John Lewis at £8.99 – totally worth it in my opinion given that I’ve not come across a 100% natural lipgloss before, let alone a 100% natural lipgloss with this colour intensity!
The original range of Lip Shimmers is already available for £5.99 and the extended range with the above colours will be coming out in May. I love, love, love these Lip Shimmers – so glad to have found them in my life!
Which is your favourite shade? What’s your opinion on ‘natural cosmetics’?
