What I Wore To Work: Ladylike Lines

Following my special What I Wore To The Weddings last week, I’m back to the corporate grind and bringing you another workwear special!

Normally, I prefer some sort of fancy shirt, slim trouser combination but now that the weather is warming up (please please please please!) I’ve started cracking out the skirts and skin! That’s right – I’m actually braving the elements WITHOUT my trusty black tights!

Today’s work outfit is a sheer tartan blouse paired with my favourite royal blue pencil skirt. Armed with my new Ralph Lauren bag in tow, this is a lady-like and elegant look which brings a splash of creative, yet careful, colour to the office.

Tartan Blouse – F&F  £7
Jersey Pencil Skirt – Forever21 ~£11
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Handbag
Cream “fauz-boutin”heels – Hong Kong
Necklace – vintage

This Forever21 skirt featured on my very first What I Wore To Work  (check it out – you won’t believe how far my photography and photo editing has come!!) and I love pairing it with different tops. This shade of blue works well with other blues, or crisp whites.

PSsst…! For more skirt styling, I’ve worn it three ways as a guest blogger on FashionNomads.com

The sheer tartan shirt is new – yes, I am still in the daze of  post shopping smugness, ahh. I bought it as part of a Tesco clothing haul along with that fabulous F&F floral dress. I absolutely love it – it’s really decent quality, with a subtle wrap over at the front for ultimate secret slimming – shhh!

Looking back, I’d probably advise wearing a nude cami underneath it as it is sheer but hey, HERE’S MY BRA!!

Finally – the accessories!

My bag of the moment, this lovely leather number by Ralph Lauren, I bought it in New York and have been toting it around town ever since! I dedicated a WHOLE blog post to it, read about my Ralph Lauren handbag here.

The shoes are another holiday find and they cropped up in the wedding post  — they really do go with everything! That is, once I found the right weather for them of course. The cream is perfect for Spring but it doesnt look so good with tights – I’ve been dyyyying to be able to show some skin and wear them!

The necklace is “vintage” aka belonged-to-my-mum-pre-90’s-and-I-found-it-and-have-worn-it-ever-since vintage. (Come onnn, it’s a daughter’s given right to snaffle items from their mum, right??!)

So there we go! Another workwear Wednesday!  A good mix of high street, budget and high-end items, which is your favourite?

What did you wear to work today?

What’s the best thing you’ve “borrowed” from your mum?
