As a somewhat connoisseur of French pharmacy brands, think Bioderma, La Roche Posay etc, I am a bit of a Vichy fan.
A) I’ve never found a French product that I didn’t like
B) Anything that sounds French basically sounds awesome. (I am seriously easy to market to, non?)
This week I attended the launch of some new additions to the Vichy Dermablend range. For those of you who haven’t heard of Dermablend, it’s a super strength, high coverage range, ideal for covering acne scars, birthmarks, hyper pigmentation, all sorts of skin sins!
The new Dermablend products are transfer resistant, waterproof, rub resistant and really gentle on sensitive skin – it’s like The Flash of foundations (cue singing Flash! Aah-ahhhhhhhh! Saviour of the universe..)
Enough singing now – time to tell you about Dermablend and the new products!
Created by an American dermatologist whose wife was suffering from vitiligo (a serious skin depigmentation condition), Dermablend has been around for 30 years now. Dermablend is famous for its ultra-light, blendable textures, and high pigment concentration – ideal for concealing anything from facial scars to bruises on your legs!
I’m an absolute Mr Bump – I rarely wear skirts as my legs are often covered in bruises and scratches. I need this Dermablend in my life!!
At the launch, we were introduced to the new corrective compact cream foundation – a 12 hour, daily-use foundation which conceals whilst remaining supple and flexible. It’s also waterproof and surprisingly non greasy. For me, compact cream foundations are normally too heavy but Dermablend felt really light on my skin – I barely felt it.
Kenneth Soh was on hand to demonstrate some of his serious Dermablend skills – he managed to cover up a dark tattoo with a mix of products – perfect for wedding photos!
The new Total Body Corrective Foundation (essentially foundation for your body) is ultra resistant, sweat proof, water proof and rub-resistant – so you can apply this to your legs and not worry about the tell-tale marks on white clothes! And its SPF15 with 16 hour wear! Am I even awake for 16 hours?
Another new product are the Corrective sticks – these are precision concealer sticks with SPF30 and the highest concentration of pigments. The tip allows you to accurately apply it on spots, dark circles, or scars.
I think this would be great if you could find an exact match to your skintone – mine were all slightly in between! (then maybe I should get two…?)
What was my favourite? Actually this Dermablend setting powder– it’s been around for a while but I’ve never tried it. It’s a great finishing powder which is meant to provide a rub resistant, sweat resistant and water resistant finish. (going on a theme here eh Dermablend?)
Upon testing, it’s very similar to the HD powders on the market, but not as finely milled and slightly more powerful. You need to brush off excess though, it’s transparent upon application, unless you cake it on – you might end up with a ghost face….
A lovely evening all in all – there were some adorable nibbles (I’m a sucker for a macaron) and I got to hang out with some blogger pals!
Check out KimberleyJ and BeautyQueenUk (pictured), iBeheld, Raining Cake. The lovely Mademoiselle La La even took a blogger Oscar Selfie! See if you can spot my MASSIVE FACE…
So, if you’re in need of a high-coverage, high performance product – Dermablend is definitely your one. I hope they bring out more shades – the formulas are great, but I couldn’t find an exact one to match me.
It’s seriously powerful stuff, I only really need it for bruises – of which I never get on my face (unless Face Value Fight Club takes off!!) so this is better if you need ultimate coverage and wear, but maybe not an everyday use product for those blessed with good skin.
What do you look for in a high coverage product? Wearability? Non pore blocking? Accurate colour? SPF?
Doesn’t The Flash have THE best theme song??
