There comes that time in your life where you start to make a more permanent move from Tesco Value to Tesco Finest and, for me, it’s the same with makeup.
Let me tell you what I mean. Although I’ve dabbled in the occasional Lancome or Benefit product, I’ve spent the majority of my makeup years buying beauty-aisle brands and online budget beauty. As I’ve progressed with my career I’ve started to branch out but the big leap from high-street to high end can only be immortalised by one brand – and that’s Chanel.
That’s right – it’s taken me a few years to get here but this month I bought my first bit of Chanel Beauty. A little healthy-glow compact which came with it’s own velvet pouch. Say what?! How have I not gone high-end sooner?
What is this MASTERPIECE before me?
This, dear friends, is the new addition to the Chanel Les Beiges collection and the latest addition to my make up bag!
If you’re new to this shiz, let me give you the Les Beiges low-down. Les Beiges came out last year as a ‘Healthy Glow’ SPF15 powder for all over the face. Some people also used the darker shades as a bronzer but at £35 a pop it took me a while to figure out which shade I wanted. Decisions, decisions.
But then these multi-colour versions of the original Les Beiges compact landed last month and my mind was made up…!
This tri-coloured powder palette is beautiful. A shimmery peach with two velvet terracotta shades, the powders are almost too pretty to use!
Once you have managed to get over the fact that you will need to eventually disturb this 39 pounds worth of perfection, you can use this Les Beige powder in one of two ways.
1. Use the lightest shade as highlighter, the middle shade as a contouring colour and the last shade as a bronzing blush.
2. Swirl all together and use as a bronzer.
I’ve swatched them below, in natural light. The lightest shade at #1 with all three blended together at #4.
FaceValueTip: If these shades are too warm for you, there’s a pink version too!
The powders are super-fine which mean that they melt into the skin and are seriously long lasting. I applied this in the morning and it was still clearly visible after a day at the office!
The Les Beiges powder provides SPF15 protection, via Titanium Dioxide but it doesn’t contain Zinc Oxide which protext against more types of UV rays.
My favourite bit? The fragrance is incredible and upon application my face smells amazing. For now, I’ll be using this as a bronzing blush on my cheeks but I can’t wait to use this all over my face when on holiday!
Overall impressions? My first foray into high-end and I LOVE IT. It looks great, it smells good and it gives me that little rush of excitement that only comes with expensive products… you know what I mean?
The finish is very natural, it lasts ages – and it’s got SPF15. AND it comes with it’s own brush. I’m very, very tempted to by the original Les Beiges face powder now….
The only question is – who’s going to fund my next purchase?
Pssst. You can buy Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder
in different colours on my Amazon shop.
Have you got any high-end recommendations for me?
