I was in Covent Garden the other day and I suddenly remembered – there’s one thing I’ve wanted to do in Covent Garden for quite some time now. Nope, not the Ballet, not the Royal Opera House either – I’m talking about the Burberry Beauty Box! (Obvs..)
Opened last Christmas, it is the ONLY store dedicated to Burberry Beauty – makeup, fragrance, scarves and a selection of beauty accessories designed by Christopher Bailey especially for the Beauty Box. I just HAD to go and buy something – y’know, since it’s one-of-a-kind and everything…. right?
Ridiculous self-justifications taken on board…. I spent half an hour in there and ended up leaving with this special package.
Isn’t it beautiful?! Lovingly packaged, one of the best bits of the Burberry Beauty Box experience was opening the bag (Once I managed to bring myself to undo the beautiful ribbon tie of course.)
Why? Because the great unveiling was a bit like opening Pandora’s box – more and more just kept coming out! There was SO much more than just the lipstick inside… Should I have expected anything less?
Let’s find out what’s in the bag.
Inside The Bag.
Alongside my new pout partner, I got a sample of Burberry Brit Rhythm perfume, my receipt in its own envelope AND a thank you card for coming to the store. My £23 has gone a long way!
And if that wasn’t enough, I received ANOTHER Thank You note two days later – but this one was via email from my Burberry Beauty Box consultant Jorge. I liked that personal touch y’know? As super cheesy as this is going to sound, it really does make you feel special!
The Burberry Lip Cover has the most lovely texture on the lips. Although it looks like a normal satin finish, it feels very much like a balm on the lips – that silky, supple feeling which I love. It feels instantly moisturising but I don’t think it fixed any of the dry patches on my lips in the long-term.
Lip Cover is reasonably lasting for a non-matte lipstick but nothing of note. It’s probably expected given the soft, creamy texture – I love how comfortable it is to wear. The hardest part was choosing a colour!!
I ended up with No.30 Primrose Hill Pink which looks quite a shocking pink when swatches but is actually really wearable on the lips. On my bare lips it actually turns into a bit more of a mauve-pink but for the full effect, apply some foundation or concealer over your lips before to tone down your natural colour.
Super-giant selfie aside, what do you think? I’m 100% buying another lipstick, I’ve got my eye on the Burberry Lip Velvet in Honeysuckle- a matte burnt peach, or another Burberry Lip Cover but in Devon Sunset, a glorious light peachy coral.
I can’t wait to see what else Burberry Beauty has in store for me – the box has been opened and my hands will be all over the rest of the range in record time. I’ve heard brilliant things about the Fresh Glow fluid, a lovely base primer which adds subtle radiance for a dewy-not-shiny effect.
Any recommendations for more Burberry Beauty?!
What do you think of this lipstick? Do you prefer a balm-finish or a matte finish?
