What I Wore To Work: Wonderful Winter Warmers

It’s Wednesday and my fashion series “What I Wore To Work Wednesday” has returned!!

What I Wore To Work has been on a little break after I moved flat because I couldn’t find any decent places to take photos which didn’t have piles of shoes and makeup in the background.

However, I’ve finally found a lovely spot at the top of my stairs which actually has some decent natural light (and no clutter!!)

With the weather fiiiinally behaving like November, it’s time to wrap up warm – and quick!

Forget about sensible padded coats and boring jumpers – today’s look is classic but still very, very cosy. Read on heat-seekers!

I don’t know about you, but when winter came around, I used to wear what I call “all purpose” coats. You know – coats with hoods and toggles, coats made from that horrible rustly material which is too inflexible and not nice to wear. (Basically, coats which my mum bought me with survival in mind rather than style.)

But! You don’t have to sacrifice style for a good winter coat! WE LIVE IN THE MODERN WORLD NOW. We’ve got materials designed for both warmth and weather-proofing and beautiful coats made out of them.

Beautiful coats LIKE THIS ONE.

F&F Boyfriend Wool Coat £39

Surprisingly soft and warm, this F&F boyfriend-style camel coat is an absolute classic. It adds a touch of elegance to any outfit and is neutral enough to pair with most colours.

On the other hand – it’s also the perfect coat for wearing over your shoulders, like a bosssss. And you can push up the sleeves for a more casual look.

Here’s how I styled it on the weekend (courtesy of my Instagram feed)

Gem Embellished Ribbed Jumper £11

What Lies Beneath.

What goes better with a beautiful coat than a beautiful jumper too? I’m a sucker, I couldn’t resist adding another gem to my shopping basket. It was only £11!

This embellished burgundy jumper feels surprisingly expensive and I love the ribbed knit and the boxy shape. I haven’t got anything like it in my wardrobe (or so I tell Mr FV)

I’m a huuuuge fan of burgundy too, it’s the ultimate Winter colour for me! (but this jumper is also available in Navy …. maybe I’ll get that too.)

Face Value Tip: A shirt under a jumper is my favourite trick for looking smart, whilst staying warm. Add it to your winter work wardrobe!

To keep it all work-smart, I’ve added another classic combination – a crisp white shirt from Uniqlo and my favourite black trousers from Zara. Cannae go wrong with that.

What do you think of today’s outfit?

When it comes to winter coats, what’s your favourite style? And did you mum buy you ‘all purpose’ coats too!?
