London Fashion Week Report LFW AW15 Day 1

So you’ve been BOMBARDED with my tweets and instagram pics showing snippets of London Fashion Week so far. So NOW, here’s the photos and full low down on what happened today, Day 1 of LFW AW15.

As you may know, last year was my first ever year covering Fashion Week and reporting for Yahoo Lifestyle. The Yahoo team must have got seriously drunk on something because they only went and got me for another season!!

So here’s the spill on today’s activities, the key fashion and beauty trends I’ve seen – oh, and who was the best interviewee of the day? READ ON.

The Outfit

Motel kindly dressed me for the day in their Yulia White Check Shift Dress. I teamed this with a steel blue blazer from Primark, a Topshop stone snakeskin rucksack and hints of rose gold around the neck and wrist.

Show #1 Eudon Choi

First stop was backstage at Eudon Choi where I interviewed Naoki Komiya – the hair featured strong partings, smoothed with Bumble and Bumble Brillantine with heeeaps of texture knotted through the ends.

Street Style

After that, I ran around Somerset house getting the best of street beauty – including the adorable AndyBaby, Swatch dog. Seriously WANT TO STEAL THIS DOG.

Show #2 – Felder Felder

Next show, it was straight on down to Freemason’s Hall to catch the beauty preparations for the FelderFelder show.

The wonderful team from Schwarzkopf were there, creating a lived-in, 70’s groupie bedhead texture with clip in fringes and an undone finish. Google Uschi Obermaier – she forms part of the muse behind the look.

The Felder Felder show itself was great – plenty of mixed fabrics, I’m talking lace, leather, fur, shearling effects and all combined with att-ta-tude.

There was a lot of cutouts, whether it was the detailed lasercut leather, or huge swathes of back and leg peeping out from underneath.

Celeb spot!! Millie MacIntosh, Rosie Fortescue, Jade from Little Mix, Danielle Peazer to name a few..

Show #3 Teatum Jones

Moving on to the Swiss Church London where Teatum Jones presented a northern soul influenced collection referencing coal miners, the 60’s dance scene with heavy soled boots and vibrant, fluid dresses.

It was a unique layout, but the show was really memorable, keep reading for why!

I absolutely loved the shoes – they weren’t pretty but they were AWESOME. The good kind of fashion ugly, I love them.

The makeup was incredible, it was meant to symbolise the climb out of the coal mine, with plenty of delicate smoke around the eyes and blood-ombre nails.

Sounds horrific but actually was all done very artistically and beautifully.

Quick UGG Break

A quick stop off at the UGG LFW Lounge at the ME Hotel for macarons and iced tea – plus a cracking view of Somerset House alongside instagram-worthy decor.

They keep threatening to send me UGGs but I’ve never received any which is a shame because my tootsies could deeeeefinitely do with some cosy comforts given the day they’ve had!

Show #4 Gyunel

The final stop of the day was the Gyunel show at Bloomsbury Ballrooms where we went backstage to interview the hair and makeup artists. The theme was post-apocalyptic survival, with raw, dry textures and lots of industrial looking hair and makeup.

Ella Eyre sang a gorgeous rendition of Gravity and the models showcased a mix of leather, neoprene and multilayer looks in industrial black, reds and greys.

The talking point? Definitely the closing piece – some sort of fashion octopus belt….!

But I got to meet Ella Eyre after the show (see my instagram) – WAAAA.

Got some new friends!

These are the ones I am most excited about – a colour mask (for my new purple hair), a blow dry your hair faster spray (no explanation required), the latest multipurpose styler from got2b, a repairing beauty balm from Schwarzkopf, and the new Crabtree and Evelyn nail polish!

So there we go, the summary of my day and WHAT A DAY it was. Thankfully tomorrow will be much more relaxed, phew.

The finished Yahoo video won’t be up until Monday, but check out the first instalment here!
