Finally, Day 1 of London Fashion Week SS16 is over. I’m sitting on the couch with my fellow fashion blogger Goodowl, drinking wine and resting our broken feet. I said last season that my outfit choice this time would be warmer, more comfortable…….. but what happened today? Well, here’s what I wore!
Boohoo.com gave me a LFW challenge to style one of their dresses and I obviously jumped at the chance! I chose their Laura Midi Dress, a gorgeous black dress with a floaty base – the perfect mix of elegance and chic.
Unfortunately this weather means that sleeveless dresses are not an option (there was a thunderstorm today before the Bora Aksu show!) so I decided to pair it with an oversize suedette shirt from Boohoo. The suede gives a nod to the ongoing 70’s theme but I decided to knot it at the waist to really accentuate the tie-waist feature of the Laura dress.
Unsurprisingly the fabulously soft shirt is no longer available, but I would have done the same with this oversize Denim version.
I wanted to keep the outfit simple and unfussy. I much prefer clean flowing lines and minimalism, compared to clashing prints. So of course I looked to the minimalist kingdom that is COS for my bag.
This is a leather tote that I bought from COS last year, it’s basically a leather version of those ratty canvas bags, but folded into two. What is it about a canvas bag? Mine look horrid but I love carrying them – I think it’s because they’re just so USEFUL.
I kept the black theme with my imitation Vivienne Westwood jelly heels. Namely because they’re relatively low, but also the neutral colour goes with everything!
The annoying thing was that I didn’t realise the heels had been worn down., so I was basically walking on the screws all day and making this irritating click-clack sound!!
And yes. After one day of wearing them, my feet are officially ruined. HELLO COMPEED BLISTER PLASTERS. Sensible Zoe has planned a day of foot rest tomorrow, so I’ll be wearing trainers. Phew.
