Summer Makeup Sorted With Urban Decay Cosmetics

The sun is FINALLY here. BRITISH SUMMERTIME HAS BEGUN. What a shame I am still pasty and pale faced as ever. Not for long though, thanks to the Urban Decay summer collection. A wonderful bundle of goodies landed through my letterbox and in 15 minutes my skin has gone from pale and hungover to bronzed and glowing.

Bronzed and golden has had a bit of a bad rap in the past from the fake-tan, orange oompa-lompa brigade but you’ll be pleased to know that these gave me a natural-looking glow in no time at all. I’ve officially got my summer makeup sorted. Read on and find out which products are transforming my face right now.

First up is this Naked One and Done complexion perfector. Literally, exactly what it says on the tube, it’s a one-step cream which is basically somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. Basically, a really decent CC cream with some skincare goodies thrown in.

Not only does it have light-diffusing spheres to blur flaws and imperfections, it’s also got a load of nourishing skincare fancy things like peptides, vitamins and moisturising agents. Oh, and SPF20 too!  Basically, over time, your skin should appear noticeably firmer and more radiant.

Personally, I think it goes on really easily, blends well and provides even but sheer skin-like coverage. It’s more than enough to replace my foundation but wouldn’t provide enough coverage for a breakout.

The only downside is that One and Done comes in 6 shades, so it might be difficult for some people to get a match. I’m wearing Medium, which is much darker than my natural skin tone but is basically my colour once tanned – it blends so well that it’s not obvious that I’ve deepened my skin tone by a few shades. I would have probably bought Medium Light for myself.

Next up, the eyes. New to the 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil is WALK OF SHAME – a nude, beige eyeliner. Yup – a beige eyeliner. Sounds completely useless, but is actually GENIUS for lining your lower lash line to tone down the pink when you’ve got bleary red eyes.

Also great for brightening your eyes is the new shade of Glide-On Eye Pencil in HEARTLESS, a perky pink which is great for the inner corner of your eyes. I do this trick all the time with eyeshadow, so it’s great to have a pencil version.

Check out the look I’ve done here – Walk Of Shame on the inner and Heartless in the inner corners. Result? Super wide awake (despite having had about 6 hours sleep!)

Finally – my favourites. The Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Highlighter. I’m already a huge fan of the Afterglow blush, so I was so excited to try these. They are already sold out everywhere, so keep an eye out!

The powder is super-soft and finely milled which means the powder is easily blendable and really natural. It’s the perfect lit-from-within glow and it stays on the skin for aaaages. I literally wore it all of today and it stayed on – even in this heat!

There are 3 shades and I genuinely can’t pick my favourite. I thought I would only really use one, but I genuinely want to keep them all!

Sin – this is a golden, champagne colour, very similar to theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, but lighter and more featherweight in texture.

Aura – this looks quite pink in the pan, but actually when applied, it’s has a luminous brightening effect and doesn’t look pink at all.

Fireball – a gorgeous coral toned shade, it’s actually not as orange on the skin either, it works really well at ‘lifting’ your blush and really making it pop.

SIN, applied down the center of my nose

In CASE you were wondering, here’s a very terribly drawn face map to show what I’ve applied where.

I’ve got SIN down the center of my nose and on my cupids bow, and then AURA on the tops of my cheekbones. No fancy lighting or anything – just some great glow-giving powders!

You can see how the One & Done complexion cream looks too – it’s sheer and luminous enough to show my freckles but jussst enough to cover the boo-boos on my chin. Just. I would probably apply some concealer in addition.

Final Look – here’s some more posey photos.

Final Thoughts?

I’m super impressed with how ‘hi-def’ that this all comes out. Despite this One and Done being two shades darker than my actual skin (see my hairline for my actual skintone)

I love the eyeliners- the Heartless pencil will be really useful because I normally have to use powder instead and a 24-hr pencil is MUCH better.

However, the big story here is the skin. I’m so pleased with my skin – I don’t have perfect skin, you can see how I’ve tried to hide my spots on my chin lol –  but seriously, my skin never looks this good!

It’s all down to the Afterglow highlighter, it’s a really lit from within glow! They give the perfect amount, without being too shimmery.  I’m also going to invest in the One & Done, in Medium light so i can wear it on days when I’m not golden and tanned…
